Keep in mind that the great bluesman was not the best educated, and even had he been, he was known for being a bit rebellious, to put it mildly. If Charlie Patton wanted it spelled this way, I think we owe him to spell it as such. Either way, this is a great single song to use as an example of his multiple voices he used throughout so many of his songs, as a way to represent the opinions of others discussing the subject matter of the song itself.
